world a coke” ad

This very popular television commercial is part of an online exhibit into the cultural history of Coka-Cola advertising. In this add., one of the most famous in television history young people from around the world gather together on a hill side singing the tune “I’d like to buy the world a Coke” The message of the song is unity of humanity, when it aired in the 2nd half of the 20th century Coke was on the verge of becoming a global entity. Like the Coke add of the early 20th century which defined for millions the image of Santa Claus, this add defined one of the global spirits of harmony that would serve as a backdrop of many political and social events to come. This source would be useful to express an early vision of globalism and the rise of commercial activity on a world wide scale.

This 1988 political ad is well-known for its extremely negative tone. It is
the most famous of three attack ads that political action committees with
ties to President George W.H. Bush. Students can use this video to examine
the issues that existed in this political campaign, American race relations
or the history of political ads in general.
