Transfer Scholarships

All USA Academic Team
BCC nominates two students to the All-USA Academic Team for Community, Technical and Junior Colleges. From the nominations received, 20 first, second and third team members will be selected. First Team members will receive a $2,500 cash stipend and will be recognized during the Phi Theta Kappa Presidents' breakfast at the AACC National Conference, and will be featured in USA Today. BCC nominees will be eligible for $500 BCC Foundation scholarships and are eligible for Phi Theta Kappa Internship programs. Candidates should:

  • have a minimum GPA of 3.25
  • be on track to earn an associate’s degree
  • complete 45 college level credits by December 31, 2009 and earn an associate's degree by August 31, 2010
  • have a minimum of 30 college-level credits in the past five years
  • not have been nominated previously for the All-USA Academic Team
  • have a community college record free of suspension, probation, and serious disciplinary action, and must enjoy full rights of citizenship in his/her country (none have been or remain abridged due to criminal conduct)

UMass Amherst  Transfer Scholarship
UMass Amherst invites students who will graduate from BCC in December 2009 and plan to transfer to UMA in January 2010 to apply for a $2,500 per year scholarship. Candidates for this scholarship must:

  • Be graduating with a minimum G.P.A. of 3.5 and at least 54 transferable credits
  • Have completed at least 45 credits at a Massachusetts community college
  • Complete the transfer process to UMass Amherst
  • Be a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident

UMass Lowell Transfer Scholarship
UMass Lowell is sponsoring a scholarship ($2500 per year) for community college students. Students are eligible to apply if they meet all of the following conditions:

  • Achieve a minimum GPA of 3.7 at the time of application
  • Complete at least 45 of the total number of credits for the associate’s degree at a Massachusetts community college
  • Complete the transfer process to UMass Lowell
  • Complete graduation requirements at a Massachusetts community college prior to enrollment at UMass Lowell
  • Be a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident
  • Plan to matriculate as a day student at UMass Lowell

Scholarship for Evening Students – UMD’s Success by Degrees program.
UMass Dartmouth’s Division of Professional and Continuing Education (UMD/PCE) will award qualified community college graduates a scholarship equal to a 33% tuition waiver for each course taken to complete a bachelor’s degree through UMD/PCE. This amounts to a savings of approximately $183 per three-credit course.
To qualify for the Success by Degrees program, students must
  • Obtain an associate’s degree from a community college
  • Graduate from their community college with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Submit a UMD/PCE application within one year of graduating from their community college.
  • Answer "yes" to the question on the application, "Applying for Success by Degrees Program?"
  • NOTE: It is NOT necessary for Success by Degrees applicants to send a high school transcript.

Once matriculated at UMD/PCE, qualified students will be eligible for the Success by Degrees program for four years as long as they maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.7 at UMD.

The Jack Kent Cooke Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship
The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation awards one of the largest scholarships available to students and recent alumni from community colleges. The award provides for up to $30,000 annually per recipient to help students pursue four-year degrees at any accredited college or university in the United States and abroad. Last year, the Cooke Foundation received nearly 700 nominations for these awards. A student from Bristol Community College received one of the scholarships three years ago.

Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.5 and must be planning to graduate in December 2009, June 2010 or August 2010 and transfer to a four-year college or university in fall 2010. Students must be nominated by their community college.

BCC can nominate two students. The deadline for submitting applications for consideration by the BCC Transfer Scholarship Committee is October 20, 2009. Barry Goldwater Scholarship
The Goldwater Scholarship provides up to $7500 per year to students who intend to pursue careers in math, natural science or engineering. Candidates should: 

  • Be full-time, matriculated students graduating in June 2010
  • Have a GPA of at least 3.5
  • Be U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, or resident aliens

New! Follett Merit-Based Scholarship
Follett Merit Scholarships will be awarded to students who contribute significantly in a student leadership capacity at BCC. Examples include, but are not limited to, service on College Committees, elected student leadership positions, service learning, student club leadership roles, and outstanding student athletic achievement. A maximum award of $500 per semester will be available for full-time students and a maximum award of $300 per semester will be granted for part-time students. Morris K. Udall Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to students who have a demonstrated commitment to careers related to the environment or to Native American or Alaska Native students who have demonstrated commitment to careers related to tribal pubic policy or Native health care. New! Scholarship from Eastern Nazarene College

The Division of Adult and Graduate Studies of Eastern Nazarene College is pleased to offer annual scholarships to exceptional students in their 2+2 programs. Bristol Community College participates in a 2+2 Business Management Program with Eastern Nazarene. BCC students who graduate in any associate’s degree program with a minimum GPA of 2.0 are eligible for the 2+2 program and can apply for the scholarship. New! Guaranteed Transfer Scholarship at Lesley College and The Art Institute of Boston
Lesley's Community College Scholarship is an $8000 award, guaranteed and renewable for a second year, for a total value of $16,000. The scholarship will be awarded to Bristol Community College graduates who apply, are admitted and enroll in either one of Lesley's undergraduate colleges-The Art Institute of Boston (AIB) or Lesley College.

Hispanic College Fund Transfer Scholarships
The Association of Latino Professionals in Finance and Accounting (ALPFA) offers scholarships to students, in the US or Puerto Rico, who are pursuing studies in Accounting, Finance, or Business related fields. The purpose of these scholarships is to encourage those students who have demonstrated academic excellence to continue pursuing their professional careers. New! Scholarship for Veterans

Wesleyan University in Connecticut is encouraging U.S. military veterans to consider completing their bachelor’s degree at Wesleyan with the help of the Military Veterans Endowed Scholarship Fund. Combined with veterans’ benefits, work study, and grant aid, the scholarship will allow qualified veterans to attend this premier liberal arts college with no loans in their financial aid packages. Applicants must be seeking their first bachelor’s degree, have served on active duty in any branch of the U.S. military service, and been discharged with any designation except “dishonorable.”
