Student Trustee

Each year, the student body elects a representative to the College Board of Trustees. This Student Trustee represents all of the students in the College as a full member of the Board.

The Board of Trustees, under the Massachusetts General Laws, is responsible for policy, budget, and oversight of Bristol Community College. The Board of Trustees meets one afternoon a month (usually Monday at 4 p.m.). The Board consists of eleven members. One of them is an elected student, one is elected by the Alumni, and nine members are appointed by the Governor of the Commonwealth.

It is the duty of the Student Trustee to convey students’ ideas, thoughts, and concerns to the entire Board of Trustees. The Student Trustee must make every effort to relate to the entire student body. The term of office is one calendar year, beginning on July 1st. To be eligible to run for Student Trustee, a student must be in good academic standing, maintain satisfactory academic progress, and be registered as a full-time student (at least 12 credits) at the time of election and for the academic year of service.
