A Letter from President Sbrega
Dear Colleagues in Learning,
At Bristol Community College we pledge wholehearted commitment to building a diverse community. This commitment stems from our determination to provide a warm, accommodating environment that fosters learning.
It is important not only to recognize diversity but also to celebrate diversity. In my opinion, any institutional commitment to excellence must embrace this premise. Differing perspectives enhance the quality of the educational process. We value the great strengths that diversity—of students, faculty, and staff—brings to our BCC family.
The accepted standard in higher education with regard to diversity typically focuses on matching the demographic profile of the institution’s service area. I disagree. In my opinion, the special nature of the community college mission carries the responsibility for BCC to exceed that demographic profile in this region. BCC provides unique opportunities to under-served populations, and I take that responsibility very seriously.
BCC created this directory as a helpful resource. Our highest priority at BCC lies in encouraging people from all walks of life to come here, to feel comfortable here, and to be successful here. The faculty and staff presented here have volunteered to serve as a resource for suggestions, advice—or simply to listen. Whether you are considering enrolling here or working here, (or both), please feel free to call or visit these volunteers, or anyone else at BCC. Of course, these people are not the only ones who want to support you at BCC! All of our faculty and staff are committed to your success.
Thank you for considering Bristol Community College—a great place to begin the rest of your life.
Dr. John J. Sbrega
