Position Classification

POSITION CLASSIFICATION - WORKFORCE

Unit Professional

Employees in this position classification are primarily non-teaching positions which provide a broad range of services and assistance to students. They are classified according to levels. Salaries and other matters relating to employment and working conditions are established in the collective bargaining agreement negotiated between the Massachusetts Board of Higher Education and the Massachusetts Community College Council (MCCC).

Non-Unit Professional

Employees in this position classification provide leadership in developing the goals and directions of the college and in developing programs to attain these goals and objectives. These positions are not part of a bargaining unit. Titles, salary ranges, and other matters relating to employment and working conditions are in accordance with policies established by the Massachusetts Department of Higher Education and described in the Non-Unit Professionals Policy Handbook.

Classified (Clerical, Facilities & Security)

Employees in this position classification are classified according to duties and responsibilities and are assigned a salary grade level. Classified Clerical, Unit I positions provide support services to the various administrative and academic areas of the college. Classified Maintenance and Campus Police, Unit II positions provide support and services to all areas of facilities and public safety, while providing a safe and secure environment for the college community. Salaries and other matters relating to employment and working conditions are established in the collective bargaining agreement negotiated between the Massachusetts Board of Higher Education and the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) Council 93.

Non-Unit Classified

Employees in this position classification perform duties and responsibilities similar to Classified employees. Although these positions are not part of a bargaining unit, salaries and other matters relating to employment and working conditions follow the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement negotiated between the Massachusetts Board of Higher Education and the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) Council 93.

Faculty

Employees in this position classification are teaching positions within academic disciplines. They are classified according to academic rank. Salaries and other matters relating to employment and working conditions are established in the collective bargaining agreement negotiated between the Massachusetts Board of Higher Education and the Massachusetts Community College Council (MCCC).

Adjunct Faculty

Salaries and other matters relating to employment and working conditions for employees in this position classification are established in the agreement for the Division of Continuing Education (DCE) negotiated between the Massachusetts Board of Higher Education and the Massachusetts Community College Council (MCCC).

Grant-funded positions are by an alternate source other than college resources, such as federal or state contracts.  These positions exist only for the term of the grant and may be sustained only with the renewal of the grant. Salaries and other matters relating to employment and working conditions are determined on a case-by-case basis in accordance with the specific provisions of the relevant grant.
