Compensation Section

COMPENSATION

Compensation is dependent upon your position classification and terms of your collective bargaining or other agreement.

Unit Professional

Salaries for employees in this position classification are based on schedules in the collective bargaining agreement negotiated between the Massachusetts Board of Higher Education and the Massachusetts Community College Council (MCCC). Salary increases, promotions, and procedures are in accordance with the same collective bargaining agreement. The level for new employees on the schedule is determined at the time of appointment and salary is commensurate with education and experience.

Non-Unit Professional

Salaries for employees in this position classification are based on ranges established by the Massachusetts Department of Higher Education. The beginning salary for new employees in this position classification are determined at the time of appointment.

Classified (Clerical, Facilities & Security)

Salaries for employees in this position classification are based on the specific job title and salary grade using salary schedules, annual increments, and other increases in the collective bargaining agreement negotiated between the Massachusetts Board of Higher Education and the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) Council 93.

Employees in this position classification are eligible to receive a step increase once each year on the anniversary of their employment until the maximum step is achieved. The anniversary date is the date on which the employee was appointed or promoted to his/her current title.

If employees in this position classification work in excess of thirty-seven and one-half (37 ½) hours per week for Unit I or forty (40) hours per week for Unit II, he/she shall be compensated at the rate of one and one-half (1 ½) times the regular hourly rate.  An exception to this occurs if the employee's regular work day is more than eight (8) hours such as in a flex time schedule.

Employees in this position classification who are required to work on a holiday shall be compensated at two (2) times his/her regular pay rate.  For more information, see AFSCME 1067 Official 2014-2017 Contract.

Non-Unit Classified

Salaries for employees in this position classification are determined using the same procedures as described for Classified (Clerical, Facilities & Security) Employees.

Faculty

Salaries for employees in this position classification are based on schedules in the collective bargaining agreement negotiated between the Massachusetts Board of Higher Education and the Massachusetts Community College Council (MCCC). Salary increases, promotions, and procedures are in accordance with the same collective bargaining agreement. The level for new employees on the schedule is determined at the time of appointment.

Adjunct Faculty

Salaries for employees in this position classification are determined in accordance with the provisions of the agreement for the Division of Continuing Education (DCE) negotiated between the Massachusetts Board of Higher Education and the Massachusetts Community College Council (MCCC).

Part-Time Benefitted

Employees in this position classification perform duties and responsibilities similar to Classified employees. Although these positions are not part of a bargaining unit, salaries and other matters relating to employment and working conditions follow the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement negotiated between the Massachusetts Board of Higher Education and the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) Council 93.

Part-Time Non-Benefitted

All part-time non-benefitted employees hired by Bristol Community College (including student workers) will be placed at the hourly rate of pay indicated for their position on the Part-Time Pay Structure.

Grant-Funded

Salaries for all grant-funded positions are determined on a case-by-case basis in accordance with the specific provisions of the relevant grant.
