Diversity Nursing Scholars Program

What is the Diversity Nursing Scholars (DNS) Program?

Funded by a federal Nursing Workforce Diversity grant, the Diversity Nursing Scholars Program, a collaboration between Bristol Community College and the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, focuses on increasing the pipeline of nurses entering the healthcare workforce and ensuring these nurses more closely reflect the diversity of the populations they serve. 

This project in partnership with the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, is supported by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) under grant number D19HP30860. 

Scholarship Opportunities

In order to be eligible for a scholarship/stipend award, students must be currently enrolled in Bristol Community College's Nursing Program with one or more of the following attributes:

  • From underrepresented ethnic and cultural groups
  • First in their family to attend college
  • From low socio-economic background (Federal guidelines apply)
  • A New Bedford High School graduate
