BCC Learning Community

The BCC Learning Community is an intensive cohort program that consists of 150 total course hours. It is designed to help individual’s master college level fundamental reading, writing and English skills while completing a college level psychology course. You will earn 9 college credits and obtain pre-employment certifications necessary to begin entry-level jobs in the field of healthcare or human services. As a PATHHS learner, you will be part of a “learning community” designed to provide support every step of your educational path. You will join a group of fellow learners who will master healthcare and human services skills and thrive in a success-oriented environment that is geared to provide you with the academic and social support you need to succeed. You will have the opportunity to gain professional reading and writing skills and English proficiency necessary for success in healthcare and human services while also taking a 3 credit course in Psychology. In addition, you will earn pre-employment certifications in CPR/First Aid, Universal Precautions, and Human Rights.

The “learning community” will also jump-start learners to educational and career advancement by providing 3 credits applicable to a human services certificate or associates degree. It is intended to support retention and commitment to career advancement through an intensive learning community approach and curriculum that is designed to include healthcare and human services vocabulary, scenarios, and problems.

The “learning community” will begin September 8, 2009 and courses are scheduled as follows:

ENG 10 Basic Writing Skills Tuesdays 1:00pm – 3:40pm
PSY 51 General Psychology Wednesdays 12:00pm – 2:40pm
RDG 10 College Reading & Learning Strategies Thursdays 2:00pm – 4:40pm
