Core Services

CORE (Campus Outreach and Resources Enhancement) provides free and confidential services to provide the education and support that BCC students need in understanding and addressing the harmful effects of excessive alcohol and other substance use.  Below, you will find a summary of our services. For more information, please call us at (508) 678-2811, x2760, or you may email us at: core@bristol.mass.edu.

Your academic success is important to us, and we look forward to providing the support and guidance you need to succeed!

Here’s how CORE can help you:

Screening and brief interventions
After filling out a short survey relating to your alcohol and/or drug use, we can offer immediate feedback on how you can potentially avoid future alcohol- and drug-related problems. All information is kept strictly confidential.

Substance abuse counseling
For students who wish to address alcohol and/or other substance use concerns, we offer a five-session series where you can meet individually with a clinician to talk about your personal goals and develop a plan to address them.  As with all of our services, these sessions are free and completely confidential.

An opportunity to participate in a study
Based on your risk level, you may be eligible to participate in a study to help us get a deeper understanding of your circumstances and how they relate to your peers.  Your participation helps support programs that address alcohol and substance abuse issues on college and university campuses nationwide! And, we will pay you $40 in gift cards for your time and effort!

Professional Referrals
CORE is an innovative program because we collaborate closely with Stanley Street Treatment and Resources (SSTAR), a large, non-profit multi-service agency that offers mental health and substance abuse treatment services, among many others.  As such, we have the capacity to locate the services you need.

Advocacy
CORE can speak on your behalf with faculty and administrators should alcohol and/or substance use issues be affecting your academic career.  We can advocate for your best interests so you can get on track in achieving your personal goals.

Educational presentations
We offer interactive, educational classroom presentations for students as well as presentations for faculty and staff.  In addition, CORE can provide educational materials for research papers, presentations and other classroom-related projects.
