Athletic Director
Bristol Community College Athletic Director
Derek Viveiros
Beginning in the 2010-2011 sports season, Bristol Community College has appointed Derek Viveiros as Athletic Director to oversee men’s and women’s intercollegiate sports programming, scheduling, and coaching activities.
Derek will supervise and participate in the coaching of the College’s varsity teams and collaborate with area high school coaches to recruit prospective students/players. “I’m definitely excited about the teams’ potential and we’ll be looking into expanding the spring sports teams in the future,” said Viveiros. “I’m looking forward to the basketball season: the men’s team looks very athletic. Coach Rob Delaleu is very confident in this year’s team. And the women’s team looks very competitive too.”
The new Athletic Director said he was excited about the potential of the 12 women on the basketball team under the supervision of new coaches: Jenny Ozug and Terence Smith. He also praised the Bristol Bees men’s soccer team for achieving a national player of the week title during its season. “That’s really good for a young program. We have a lot of good returning players and Coach Tony Rose will be hitting the recruiting trail,” he said. Coach Ernie Bettencourt is also recruiting for next fall’s women’s soccer team.
A resident of Fall River, Viveiros has a bachelor’s degree in sports management from Southern New Hampshire University and a master’s degree in sports management with a concentration in coaching from the American Public University, West Virginia.
Before joining Bristol Community College, Viveiros also was the assistant basketball coach at Iowa Wesleyan College, Mt. Pleasant, IA and Alderson Broaddus College.
