Bristol opens 17th annual Professional Day to the community
Fifty years ago this year, Fall River resident Dr. Irving Fradkin conceived a simple idea -- that a community-based effort can make it possible for children to go to college. Dollars for Scholars was born, and has raised more than $1 billion for more than 1 million students around the world.
What is the next great grassroots effort to keep students in school and moving toward their goals? In honor of the 50th anniversary of Dollars for Scholars, Bristol Community College will gather some of the great practitioners regionally and nationally to share their best ideas and practical ways to help students succeed.
The Keynote will be delivered by Dr. Dana Mohler-Faria, president of Bridgewater State College and special advisor for education to Governor Deval Patrick. Dr. Mohler-Faria is leading the state-wide Readiness Project to propose new structures for the Governor's plan to provide "cradle to career" pathways for all Massachusetts children.
Community members, teachers, school administrators, parents, and any others who have a stake in student success (that is, all of us) are invited to this FREE day of activities and discussion on Wednesday, March 26. While admission is free, registration is required.
