Publicity
College Communications works with college faculty and staff to publicize college programs, activities and events to audiences on and off campus. College Communications employs an arsenal of tools to publicize events, including traditional and new media. Strategy will be determined based on your completion of the Request for Publication/Promotion form.
Possible (free) communications vehicles:
- Media Pitches
- Press releases
- Spotlight on BCC Web site
- Facebook promotion
- Twitter promotion
- Community calendars
- Electronic sign
Paid advertising is also an option, and negotiated by our Media Buyer so that you get the best price possible. All advertising should go through College Communications to ensure that your message is visually and verbally consistent with the College's marketing campaign.
Notes on press releases and media coverage
College Communications sends press releases to local and regional media on a regular basis. Media outlets do not charge to print press releases, but they do run press releases at their discretion and may edit press releases due to space constraints.
Media coverage is solely at the discretion of the media organization and there is no sole factor that determines which event receives media coverage. Arranging coverage of a college event can sometimes be a complex matter since our local media outlets cover a wide area and diverse issues. If you are requesting media coverage of an event, it is very important for College Communications to have advance notice and specific details about your event. These details will help in our effort to promote event coverage.
Photography
Photography services are available through College Communications. Limited services are available in-house, and College Communications maintains relationships with area photographers in order to manage full-service requests. In-house coverage is at the discretion of College Communications and advanced notice is required.
