The goal of the BCC IRB is to uphold the principles of the Belmont Report and other established guidelines, and ensure the rights, welfare, and privacy of individuals involved in research.

The BCC IRB consists of members who are qualified through their experience and expertise to review specific research activities and determine the acceptability of such proposed research. IRB members comprise a diverse group of individuals in terms of race, gender, cultural backgrounds, and sensitivity to the rights and welfare of human subjects. The board must include representation from the scientific area as well as the non-scientific area, and must also include at least one member who is not otherwise affiliated with the college.

The BCC IRB meets regularly to review plans for research by members of the institution and those associated with the College who are conducting human subject research. BCC IRB meetings will be held on the following days during the 2010-2011 academic year:
