Census Economic Briefing Room

Provides current economic figures and charts for the U.S. in a number of areas such as construction spending, new home sales, retail trade, and more.  Also available is the Census Bureau Economic Programs page that gives business statistics in more detail.  Economic Time Series

A comprehensive site of free, easily available economic time series data (mostly U.S. data) useful for economic research, in particular economic forecasting.  Designed to give students easy access to large amounts of data, and to be able to quickly get charts of that data. At this time, there are more than 100,000 time series for which data and custom charts can be retrieved.  Data is also available for Japan, Europe, Australia, and Canada.

Economic Indicators

Provides access to the monthly publication Economic Indicators from 1998 to the present.  Each issue gives a wealth of U.S. economic data and statistics, such as the gross domestic product (GDP), national income, consumer prices, corporate profits, employment, unemployment, and much more.  Part of the Government Printing Office (GPO) website and searchable by date and/or keyword(s).

Economic Report of the President

Report includes current and foreseeable trends in the U.S. economy and annual numerical goals concerning topics such as employment, unemployment, production, real income and the labor force, and a program for carrying out objectives set forth in the report.  Access to reports from 1995 to the present are searchable by date and/or keyword(s).  Statistical tables in spreadsheet format and related economic and budget documents are also available at this site, which is part of the Government Printing Office (GPO) website.

Economic Statistics Briefing Room

Provides easy access to current Federal economic indicators and links to information produced by a number of Federal agencies, whose statistical units maintain and update this information. All the estimates for the indicators presented in the Federal Statistics Briefing Rooms are the most currently available values.

Federal Reserve Board Beige Book

Commonly known as the Beige Book, this report is published eight times per year. Each Federal Reserve Bank gathers anecdotal information on current economic conditions in its District through reports from Bank and Branch directors and interviews with key business contacts, economists, market experts, and other sources. The Beige Book summarizes this information by District and sector.

Inflation Calculator

Form adjusts any given amount of money for inflation, according to the Consumer Price Index, from 1800 to the year previous to the current year.  The pre-1975 data are the Consumer Price Index statistics from Historical Statistics of the United States and data since then is from the annual Statistical Abstract of the United States.
