Economic Statistics Briefing Room

Provides easy access to current Federal economic indicators and links to information produced by a number of Federal agencies, whose statistical units maintain and update this information. All the estimates for the indicators presented in the Federal Statistics Briefing Rooms are the most currently available values.

FRED II:  Federal Reserve Economic Data

A database of over 800 U.S. economic time series,  this site offers a wealth of economic data and information to promote economic education and enhance economic research.  Maintained by the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, FRED also provides historical U.S. economic and financial data, including daily U.S. interest rates, monetary and business indicators and exchange rates. Updated regularly.


An easy-to-use, two-step database that allows you to view and compare statistical data for the Member States of the United Nations.  Includes economic and technology statistics as well as links to newpapers of the country. 

IRS TaxStats

Information about the financial composition of individuals, business taxpayers, tax exempt organizations and more.  This data has been sampled from all kinds of returns and sorted in lots of interesting ways.

Statistical Resources on the Web is from the University of Michigan and offers numerous links to government, corporate and private websites on statistics and data in business and industry; consumers; cost of living; demographics; economics; finance and currency; foreign economics; foreign trade; and labor.  Also provides links to statistics and data in other subject areas.

U.S. Bureau of the Census:  County Business Patterns

Annual series that provides subnational economic data by industry. The series is useful for studying the economic activity of small areas; analyzing economic changes over time; and as a benchmark for statistical series, surveys, and databases between economic censuses. Businesses use the data for analyzing market potential, measuring the effectiveness of sales and advertising programs, setting sales quotas, and developing budgets

Includes the latest edition and several previous editions of Statistical Abstract of the United States, including USA statistics in brief and a guide that links to statistics released after the latest edition. Also has links to State and Metropolitan Data Book; USA Counties; County and City Data Book; State & County QuickFacts; and MapStats.

UN Comtrade

The United Nations Commodity Trade Statistics Database (UN Comtrade) contains detailed imports and exports statistics reported by statistical authorities of close to 200 countries or areas. It concerns annual trade data from 1962 to the most recent year. UN Comtrade is considered the most comprehensive trade database available with more than 1 billion records. A typical record is – for instance – the exports of cars from Germany to the United States in 2004 in terms of value (US dollars), weight and supplementary quantity (number of cars). The database is continuously updated. Whenever trade data are received from the national authorities, they are standardized by the UN Statistics Division and then added to UN Comtrade.

United Nations Statistics Division

Provides data on international trade, national accounts, energy, industry, environment, transport and demographic and social statistics gathered from many national and international sources.
