Students interested in enrolling in an online degree or certificate program follow the same admissions process students who wish to complete their degree in a face-to-face format.

It is highly recommended that students speak with an academic advisor about their education and career goals prior to matriculating into a program.

Financial Aid is available to students regardless of whether they pursue a degree online or on-ground.

Student Services, including access to library resources, tutoring, disability services and technical support are available to students enrolled in distance learning courses and programs.

Student Needs

Students who opt to take programs in a hybrid or fully online model may need the full version of Microsoft Office 2007 – Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.

Not sure if you have Office 2007? If you're on a PC go to the Start menu and select All Programs. Look for a folder named Microsoft Office. Inside you should see a list of programs.

Don’t have Office? Microsoft offers "The Ultimate Steal" which allows students to purchase the full version for a great discount!

Please note that Microsoft Works, WordPerfect, WordPad, OpenOffice and iWork may not be acceptable software options for some programs. Please check with your instructor for more details.

In addition to Microsoft Office, students may need a headset and microphone. There are a variety of options of headsets available at local or online retailers. One model that has worked well is the Logitech ClearChat Comfort USB Headset.

*Office Technologies

Students interested in pursuing the Office Technologies certificates or degrees must come to campus to complete the first three courses: OFC 02 Computer Keyboarding, OFC 13 Introduction to Microsoft Word, and OFC 17 Introduction to Microsoft Office. Students with the prerequisite typing skills required by the program should make arrangements with the Department Chair to complete a typing skills assessment. Prior experiential learning (PEL) credit may also be an option for students who are currently working in the field or who have previous professional experience with Microsoft Office.

All upper level courses in the program are offered as “student option” courses. This means that students can complete the coursework fully online, take the course as a hybrid (mixing face-to-face and online work) or physically come each week to the class. Students are encouraged to speak with the Department Chair regarding what option suits their specific needs, learning style, and goals.
